INTRO TO THE CORE COMPETENCIES

WHAT? ECO exists in order to build flourishing churches who make disciples of Jesus. In order to fulfill our vision we must develop lay leaders within our churches who are skilled in our 10 Core Competencies. This officer/leader training offers 10 video-taught classes by experts in each of the competencies with opportunities for discussions, discernment, and action after each lecture.

WHY? This course is designed for church leaders to learn to be more effective in their roles or trained for a role they have yet to step into.

COMMISSIONED LAY PASTOR CERTIFICATION TRAINING

CLP1

This certification is a 10-month process undertaken with a non-geographical cohort, a facilitator, homework assignments and a mentor from your local church. CLP 1’s are lay leaders who are serving their church by leading micro- expressions of church (small groups, youth groups, missional communities, etc.) and who wish to have a deeper level of training in the 10 Core Competencies.

CLP 2

This course is a two to three year process which involves all of the training described for officers and CLP 1’s plus 11 additional seminary level classes. CLP 2’s are lay leaders who are serving as pastors. This CLP 2 certification is meant to equip a lay leader who feels called to pastoral ministry with the basic skills needed to pastor a church and ability to administer the sacraments.

WHY? ECO deeply values lay leadership development as being foundational to becoming a movement that builds flourishing churches who make disciples of Jesus Christ. We seek to undo the clergy-centered ecclesiology that has plagued the church for too long and truly reclaim the biblical vision of the priesthood of all believers. We have designed the course in such a way that is affordable, flexible, and allows the students to stay in their current context while they receive further practical and theological training for ministry.

HOW? CLP 1 and CLP2 are groups of 6-12 students that are non-geographical. The course structure is two virtual meetings a month with reading/writing assignments. The final project necessary for certification is a paper on what the student has learned and how they have grown in each of the 10 competencies.

COST: $1000 for CLP 1, $6000 for CLP 2 (which includes the CLP 1 course and seminary courses)

APPLY: Application deadline is December 7, 2018 for cohorts beginning in January 2019. Register above, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with a blank application to complete.
